Back to Part 2

RNW:  With your high school friends seeing your lives change so quickly, you know with the record deal and that whole bit about you guys - really its almost like prodigy status in my mind because how many times do you hear about people being signed to a major label while they’re still in high school?

TF:  Right, right.

RNW:  And I’m sure that your friends all saw this going on and saw all of these changes happening with your lives as you climbed the ladder in the music business.  Have you been able to maintain any of those friendships with this rocket ship ride?

TF:  Well, I mean, I think we’ve maintained them to the extent that anyone maintains high school relationships, you know?  I have a couple friends that I still talk to, that were my closest friends in high school.  But, beyond that, not really.  The interesting thing is that in high school, once the band actually got signed, it didn’t really effect our immediately life right then.  We finished school.  It was a very low priority deal.  We kept playing the same shows that we always had, so people heard that, oh, you know, they have a record deal, but then we didn’t put out the record for another year and a half because we wanted to graduate high school and stuff.  So it didn’t immediately effect everybody.  Definitely more people than we thought did come out of the wood work because we’ve had success, but we try to see that the home life is normal so there’s friends from high school I certainly keep in touch with, yeah.

RNW:  So you haven’t taken any of your friends then, in to work with you guys?  Do you have a posse or anything?

TF:  I guess we sort of do, if you think about our touring right now.  John’s girlfriend’s brother sells our t-shirts for us.

RNW:  He’s your merchandise guy, huh?

TF:  Yeah, merch. guy.  We’ve known him for years and my cousin is actually playing bass for us on the road.

RNW:  So Max can come out front, right?

TF:  Max can come out front with the touring bass player, yeah.

RNW:  Cool.  When you think about it, it makes sense because you want people on the road with you that you trust.

TF:  Exactly, we don’t want just a bunch of hired guns.  And you want people who are passionate about it too and that definitely gives that sense to it.

RNW:  People that have known you when you were coming up are more liable to be passionate about it than others.

TF:  Exactly.

RNW:  Well I think you have good things ahead of you with this CD.

TF:  I hope so.  Thank you for the vote of confidence.

RNW:  It rocks.  One last question here for my sisters out in the Rock N World cause I know that they want to know this.

TF:  Okay.

RNW:  Max has all the tatts in the group.  How come?

TF:  I have tatts now too!

RNW:  When I see pictures of you guys I see him with all the tatts and I work mostly with hard rock and metal groups.  I’ve just done New Tattoo with Motley Crue, and the Tattoo The Earth tour is coming up, blah, blah, blah.  I look at a picture of you guys, the three of you, and Max has all the tatts and you and John, it doesn’t appear you have any, so what’s going on with your self expression there?

TF:  Oh, well wait until you see . . . I won’t answer that question until tomorrow when you see me.

RNW:  Oh you got a new tattoo!

TF:  Oh I’ve got five of them now.

RNW:  Whewwwww!

TF:  All the new pictures, maybe most of the pictures you’ve seen have been fairly old.  All the new ones that you are going to start seeing in the future, you’ll see my tatts.  And you’ll see them all tomorrow too.

RNW:  Well I’m looking for a good design.  I haven’t taken the plunge.

TF:  John has a big one on his leg, he just never shows it cause he’s always wearing pants.  But that was actually the first one any of us ever got.

RNW:  Really?

TF:  Yeah, its huge!

RNW:  How funny.  Then Max just got into it, huh?

TF:  Max didn’t really have any when we got off the road, he had like one or two and then, I mean after we got off the road we were all a little lost because we’d been whirlwinds.  We came out of it, we’re all 20, 21 years old now, and we had growing up to do.  Its like, what the hell just happened?  So, Max expressed that in getting a lot of tattoos.  I expressed that by going to dance clubs every evening, going crazy.  We needed some sort of a release.  But now we kind of came through that and now you are able to make a record and be stronger.

RNW:  Well cool, I’ll look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

TF:  Have fun at the show tomorrow and thanks.
