Welcome to unsung heroes a series where we take a look at some of the best unsigned or indie bands across the world.

With the mainstream music venues becoming more and more narrow it is becoming even more necessary to seek out local and underground bands if you want something new and different from what might be the current "trend of the week" in music.

Rocknworld.com was originally founded with the purpose of exposing great music to the masses, so join us as we share with you some of the best unsigned and indie bands currently "paying their dues".

Portland rockers that deliver a strange concoction of Tool-like alternative rock, with strange moments of punk breakdowns, nu-metal thrash, and subtle guitar pieces that are scattered like the snowflakes of a Michigan blizzard.

A trio that is taking Pittsburgh by storm!

Special Edition: You heard about them from their "Metallica Sues Band Over Guitar Chords" hoax, now get to know the band behind the hoax with this indepth special extended edition of Unsigned Heroes.

The official best band out of Nashville
and no there is nothing country about them!

Pittsburgh's rising musical stars - Mercury.

This month we are happy to feature one of the hardest working bands out of Minneapolis.

Jugulur's music does just that, it goes for the Jugulur! Check out this hard rockin' So Cal band who are turning heads where ever they go! This isn't the lameass nu-metal the kids at the mall are listening to. This is the read deal!

Solarcade are turning heads in LA with their amazing mix of music that's  a cross between U2 and David Bowie with a little Slash and Depeche Mode thrown in. Lead vocalist Paul Van seems to embody the best elements of Bono and Bowie as well as Depeche Mode’s David Gahan. Even guitarist Pomilla at times captures a bit of Edge’s style in his playing but he goes far beyond the limited guitar nature of U2 and instead bring various influences into his guitar style that sometimes is reminiscent of The Cult’s Billy Duffy and at other times contains echoes’ of Slash.  As you can imagine it’s a powerful combination and Solarcade have used it to great effect, quickly becoming a favorite on the So Cal music scene.

Some interesting sounds are coming out of Long Island, NY courtesy of Braindoll!  Plug in and learn more about this band that is dead set on doing things their own way and succeeding.  Braindoll is unlike anything you'll hear on the radio these days, so if you're in the market for something new and interesting - Braindoll has got you covered!

You are a-boat to discover a cool rockin' band from Canada (sorry couldn't resist the a-boat thing) click over to see why Pangea thinks they have what it takes to be the next big thing to emerge from the Canadian music scene.

Buttonhook a hard rockin' powerhouse from Atlanta that is primed to hit the big time. Forget all of the Pearl Jam and Limp Bizkit wannabe's - Buttonhook is the real deal with powerful vocals, fist pounding rhythms and more guitars than you can handle!

Join us as we get to know Driftwood, a musical partnership between Rob Parise and Karl Uftring that is building a name for themselves in New England. Not too mellow and not to heavy, Driftwood finds a musical middle ground that leaves their songwriting canvas wide open to creative a diverse collection of songs.

We take things a little heavier this time around as we check out one of hottest bands of American's Heartland - 8C8 - click over to find our why the band had a major label calling almost as soon as they formed and why the band decided to hold off on a deal and cultivate their music and live shows. They are primed and ready for the masses now, so check out this feature to be the first one on your block to know about this band that appears on the verge of stardom!

For this edition of Unsigned Heroes we venture across the Atlantic to the U.K. and catch up with one of the hottest bands on the English music scene, Mohair.

Last year, the New York retro rockers The Strokes took the music world by surprise, now Mohair is primed to give them a run for their money, once a US label with enough insight is prudent enough to sign them and bring their music stateside.

Don’t let the name fool you; American Jesus isn’t a band out trying to preach the gospel. Unless of course you are talking about the gospel of rock n roll, converting souls to the sounds of rock mixed with classic R&B and soul or as we call it here at Rocknworld, Rock – N – Soul.  American Jesus’ music brings that age-old marriage of rock and soul into the 21st century.  Forget the lame drum machine beats and mindless lyrics that are oversung in today’s R&B sound, American Jesus takes us back to the days when soul had soul and rock really rolled.

Our first feature band in the "unsigned heroes" series, twelvehourmary a truly unique band that is also part of an exciting local music scene in Long Beach, Ca. We talk with the group's frontman Brett Bixby to learn more about twelvehourmary's exceptional music and what the band is doing in order to take things to the next level.
