Neurotic Decay - Fresh Meat For The Grinder Review

by Matt Hensch

.
It never hurts to experiment with a strange form of music and add it to your current style. A young melodic death band named Neurotic Decay follow this procedure by adding large amounts of industrial samples and techno beats to their brutal riffing. Think it sounds strange? You haven't heard anything yet!

Now I need to state that I find the most interest in bizarre things, and that's why I like this EP. The riffs are melodic, yet they fire out a strong barrage of brutality and aggression. Now here's the kicker; imagine techno in the background. The techno samples fit in surprisingly well with the riffs. The solos are great too.

The songs themselves are enjoyable from the standpoint they all manage to keep the same energy while sounding different in several aspects. One song on here totally owns this EP and represents everything Neurotic Decay is capable of: "Dance At The Dawn Of The Apocalypse." I honestly have never heard such a fantastic combination of two opposing musical spectrums. "Dancing At The Dawn Of The Apocalypse" contains fabulous riffs with incredible techno samples. This EP is worth the buy for this song alone.

One thing's for sure, Neurotic Decay has to be heard to be believed. This is essential for fans of Fantomas or other Avant Garde bands.

Tracklisting:
1. Dancing At The Dawn Of The Apocalypse
2. Vile Be Thy Name
3. I Dream Of Decay
