 Scorpion's Sting!

They’ve sold over 50 million records worldwide, making them one of the most successful bands ever to come out of Europe.  These rockers from Hanover, Germany are considered by many to be the fathers of heavy metal music.  It isn’t difficult to see why.  Co-headlining on the summer "Maximum Rock Tour" with Motley Crue, the Scorps are a living text book of metal music and stage presence.  If you are going to see the Scorpions, you aren’t just going to hear ear splitting, ass kicking metal, you get the full package baby!  Try on-stage fireworks, smoke, strobes, flame throwers and enough raw energy and musical talent to light New York City.

With careers that span the 70s, 80s and 90s, the Scorpions’ sound is still edgy and driven.   The group is anchored by its three founding members; Klaus Meine on lead vocals, Rudolph Schenker on rhythm guitar and Matthias Jabs on lead guitar.  Added to the family are bassist Ralph Rieckermann and drummer James Kottak, who puts out some outstanding drum solos that culminate in the exhausted working man pouring a beer over his head to keep from igniting . . .

Now touring their 14th career album Eye to Eye, they performed several tracks from the new work, including a very hot number called Mysterious.  The rhythm tracks are like a siren song, enticing you to move your body to the beat and join in on air guitar.  The CD also includes several rock ballads worth checking out, like Ten Light Years Away and the title track, Eye to Eye.  While introducing the summer concert goers to these newest efforts they also pulled out the classic hard rock hits that made them rock legends like Rock Me Like a Hurricane and There Is No One Like You.  In short, the Scorpions are not a band, they are a warp drive for the metal music that launched in the 1970s and is streaking across the sky and right into the year 2000.
