The Strokes- is this it? System of a Down- toxicity both of these albums are bad ass, they're the best i've heard all year, i think they should have been on the top of the list, i think incubus- mournin view is runner up,, and i haven't heard the dammed or iggy poip's new albums, but i'm going to have to pick them up.

Posted by Terry Edwards:
Lifehouse's "No Name Face" was a revelation. Best album that I have heard in a number of years. Can't wait for the follow up.

Posted by heyfucco:
and to DDEVIL- system of a down was not on the list because of two reasons- it is overrated, and system of a down is not that different if you think about it they just sound like Primus, Slayer, and many other bands combined into one. If you want different listen to mr. bungle you ass.

ddevil, is that such a bad thing? then teeny boppers won't get a hold of it and ruin it for everyone else.

Posted by ddevil:
...and why isn't System of a Down - Toxicity on any of these lists? should have been friggin album of the year, damnit! when was the last time something truly DIFFERENT came along in the music world? poor SOAD, they're on the long road to being underrated.

Posted by oj:

1. AMEN -KNOW THATS SOME REAL GOOD HARDCORE S#!T. 2. BOY HITS CAR- TRUELY AMAZING DISC. 3. SLAYER- GOTTA LOVE THESE GUYS 4. MEGADETH - FINALLY A DISC SINCE COUNTDOWN TO EXTENSION WORTH LISTENING TO. GETTING BACK TO BASICS FOR THEM. 5. A TIE BETWEEN SYSTEM OF A DOWN AND SLIPKNOT. OVER ALL NOT A GREAT YEAR FOR MUSIC, TO USIC NU METAL CRAP THAT ALL SOUNDS THE SAME, SO MUCH SO I SPEND ALOT OF THE YEAR BUYING OLD 70'S 80'S STUFF LIKE NAZARETH, TROOPER, LEONARD COHEN, BLUE OSYSTER CULT, RUSH,ERIC CLAPTON, BOSTON, ETC......

Posted by Ckreep:
Systematic, Fantomas, Professional Murder Music, those were good albums, but Staind? Staind's first major label album had some ok songs like Mudshovel on it, but they've continued to suck more and more ass ever since. Everything released since "Outside" with that no-talent moron Fred Durst on it has sounded exactly the same. They shouldn't be anywhere near a "best of" list.

Posted by J:
Fantomas: The Director's Cut Tomahawk - Tomahawk Cradle of Filth - Bitter Suites To Succubi Lovage - Songs To Make Love To Your Old Lady By Murder City Devils - Thelma Shoeless Joe - Canibal Dark Lotus - Tales From The Lotus Pod

Posted by Xenophobia:
1- Nightwish (Wishmaster) 2- Sonata Arctica (Silence) 3- Avantasia: the metal opera 4- Slipknot IOWA 5- system of a down Toxicity. in order those are the best metal ones for sure

Posted by scratchthatitch:
Bob Dylan Love & Theft...no contest.

Posted by Jaksiel:
Tool is clearly #1. I give #2 to System of a Down, #3 to onesidezero, #4 to Boy Hits Car, and #5 to Alien Ant Farm.

Posted by adaj7:
That's a good list, but where is Digimortal?

Posted by M. Smith:
Cake-Comfort Eagle (Best of the year), System of a Down-Toxicity,Gorillaz- S/T and Weezer's Green album. What the f*#k is up with Staind being anywhere on this list? They're tepid, slow and boring. If they were to rock out they might have something, but c'mon people, just because the lyrics are "deep" doesn't mean they're deep. For real depth go listen to some Tori Amos for crying out loud.

Posted by meziah:
staind- break the cycle, linkin park- hybrid theory, puddle of mudd, tool- lateralus,

Posted by Lisa:
I think that Linkin Park, Blink 182 and Nickelback are the best bands of 2001

Posted by rocky racoon:
Hey wheres the best pop album, ARTISTS like Micahel Jackson, Jewel, Natilie Imbrulia, Hanson, The Corrs, Semisonic deserve a chance. Other then that good list
