Even though released in late '99, I believe that Dream Theater's "Metropolis pt2: Scenes from a Memory" was sadly overlooked. What a great concept album. Not only did DT continue their technical proficiency, but they somehow executed it in an unparalled artistic manner. That album spent a good three months in my cd player before it was removed!

There were only two good albums this year, and one of 'em's a box set. Everything else was just plain bad this year. The two albums of 2000 are "Alone with Everybody" by Richard Ashcroft and the Faust box set. Ashcroft's album is great because it goes against the mindless pseudo-hard-rock thing that everyone does these days. Faust was a brilliant German band of the 70s who virtually invented most of the musical styles that underground musicians are calling theirs. Other than this, every band out there that released a record sounded like Creed, who suck. Hopefully 2001 will bring us some actual MUSIC. And by the way? RAP SUCKS. Thank you.

Why are all you people saying slipknot for best of the year 2000, sure slipknot is my favorite band going right now, but I hate to inform you all that slipknots alblum came out in spring of 1999. Since i did own the alblum somewhere around september or october of 1999. Some of my other favorite bands right now are disturbed, cold, system of a down and amen.

now, i write for antimusic, and, yes i was one of the many who had a hand in the 'best of list', but, one thing bothers me, MudVayne IS NOT hardcore. NO BODY who's on a major label is hardcore. Period. I mean, one of my favorite bands (Boy Sets Fire) just signed to Wind Up Records!!! WHAT THE FUKK!! That's the same label as creed. Listen, hardcore is a genre, a style and a LIFESTYLE that most of you cannont or will not ever understand. I mean, until you've been at a hardcore show in some american leigon, church, or somebodys basement with 15-20 other people..where it's all about the music..then, you cannot even CLAIM to know what hardcore is about. But, i could be wrong, it's just my opinion.

The best album of the year
for me would be Cave In's record, called Jupiter. It's the best by miles
and it's available on Hydra Head records. The Pantera one is rubbish; very
disappointing and one-dimensional along with the new ones by Iron Maiden
and Limp "just call us Backstreet Boys with guitars" Bizkit. Very bad.
Other good albums are "Rated R" by QOTSA, "Kid A" by Radiohead and "Bastinado"
by Wilt. Best new band would have to be A Perfect Circle.

This is the first best of
list I have seen so far that had some substance to it. The rest are just
a bunch a list of trendy ass cds. I love the sheep how are baggin on you
guys for this. it just shows how stupid they are. it doesn't have to be
popular to be good. look at eminem and the backdoor boys where they really

A look at this list just
proves to me that the year 2000 really was a crap year in music and everything
else also. This year has been one of the biggest disappointments of my
whole life. Nothing good has happened, I'm still not sure if Van Halen
is back with DLR yet, every CD i bought was an utter letdown, and some
other bad stuff (i don't remember.) I can't wait til 2000 is over with.
