Seether - Disclaimer II
By Greg Howell

editors note: While this is technically a reworking and expanded version of Seether's debut, our reviewer thought highly enough of it as a stand-alone album that we decided to run the review here in our Sophomore series.

When I got a hold of Seether’s reissue of their debut album, Disclaimer II, I wanted to give it a scathing review. I really did. But upon the first listen, I realized that would have been a big error on my part.  Seether is a band that can stand next to the latest crop of European talent and shine brightly.

Their sound is quite unique. At times they seem to be channeling Stone Temple Pilots, at other times Metallica, and then they bring their own unique sound to the table for an all out bonanza of rock.  Seether brings a good balance of hard rocking, pulse pounding rock and acoustic, soulful ballads.

This time around,  Disclaimer II, the listener gets treated to 8 additional songs including "Hang On" from the Daredevil soundtrack as well as the Punisher version of "Broken" featuring labelmate Amy Lee of Evanesence.

"Gasoline"(1) and "Driven Under "(5) are the tracks that stood out to me the most. I guess that’s partly because these are the songs where their STP flare comes out. On the bonus songs, "Love Her"(15) and "Got it Made"(17) stood out as definitely being able to have held their own the first time around.  They flat out rock.

The radio hits are still here, your favorites from the original are still here and you get 8 more tracks of Seether goodness. Disclaimer II surprised this bitter music listener. Give this 4-star album a try.
