Here we have FLAW’s sophomore album, "Endangered
Species". When I picked up this CD, I fell in love with the cover shot--Props
for that. But the actual CD is a different story.
12 Flaw'ed Steps
1. Medicate-the CD starts off with a hard
hitting metal song. But, looking through the thick metal riffs, I hear
obvious song structure, that I hear too much. You know what I mean: verse,
chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus. It has some potential, needs some
more creativity.
2. Endangered Species-this is where I realized
why they sounded so familiar. These boys sound an awful lot like Disturbed.
This song was a more melodic rock song, with the lyrics a little... obvious.
Speaking of obvious, song structure. Strike two.
3. Recognize-so far, it seems that the
songs have been getting progressively slower. Although, the upper of this
song is that it doesn’t have such an obvious song structure. They mix it
up a little. So far, I’m not a big fan.
4. Wait For Me-CORRECT I AM!! The songs
are getting slower. I’m predicting by song 12, they won’t even be playing
music (dare I dream). This song is more of an acoustic “ballad.” The lyrics
are a little whiney and over done. It really takes away from their tough
image. Sounds almost christian.
5. Many Faces-ah, back to the more up beat
rock. I guess he finished crying. It’s still a little slow, but I was probably
asking for too much. The biggest downer of this CD is the obvious song
structure. Yes, if this was a baseball game, they would be out (strike
3 FLAW, strike 3). The lyrics sound very confused. I didn’t
think he was trying to make any kind of
a point... I hope not.
6. All the Worst-I’m pretty sure they gave
up trying to make a rock album. I have to respect a band that can totally
switch genres during the album. The thing I noticed about this song (aside
from pathetic lyrics) is that it has the exact same song structure as the
first song. Breathtaking.
7. You’ve Changed-No, buddy, you’ve changed...
you’ve changed. Within the last 20 minutes. This song is a lot harder than
the past 5 tracks. They still sound like Disturbed, the lyrics still require
no thought, and it is still predictable.
8. Turn the Tables-surprise, the song begins
to slow down. It’s all a pattern. I have a feeling the next song will be
slower. SONG STRUCTURE, SONG STRUCTURE!! Kill me.
9. Worlds Divide-Guess who was right! The
song slows tremendously. The lyrics fail to provoke thought. Honestly,
all the songs seem to say the same thing. Still presenting their thoughts
with a lame dose of crap music.
10. Not Enough- This song speeds up a little.
Wait a minute... the song Not Enough is actually track 12. Shame, shame.
11. Final Cry-this is the right song. That's
a good thing... unfortunately, that is the ONLY good thing. What do you
expect? Hopefully not quality.
12. (see track 10... but vice-versa)

If they sound like disturbed then they must be good, because Disturbed are one of the best bands out which ofcourse makes Flaw one of the best bands out so don't go criticizing Flaw!

Flaw is one of the best bands out there so i have a lot of respect for them not only because they can write a song but also because they put it together very well. I am from the Louisville also so i know people who used to be there roommates and they said that they definetly try to make their music sound as good as possible which is what they do and they do it perfectly. So if you dont like FLAW because of the lyrics, then you are not understanding the true meaning because they are put together very well, and one last thing, if you dont like them then your not your not relly a fan of GREAT ROCK!

why do you honostly try to review cds? or atleast rock cds. you should stick to genres that suit you, such as clay aiken and micheal jackson. from reading your review, its obvious that you are a faggot. and i think clay and micheal would be more than thrilled for you to rate they're faggety cds. how do you say that flaw's lyrics and talent isn't good? i mean seriously, you have to see the music for what it is, not what you want it to be. you dissapoint me, i wish i never got drunk and had sex with the fat sh!t mother of yours. i'm sure she hates you just as much as me
Posted by brett reamis :
f*ck all you mother f*ckers that dont like flaw, they are bad @ss and the lead singer is an incredible f*ckin singer and you can suck my d#ck and f*ckin like it if you dont like flaw you f*ckin c0ck sucker flaw and disturbed are nothing alike and they are both great bands. bitch i should rip off your f*ckin head and sh#t down your neck you f*ckin b#tch f*ck you i hope you burn in h%ll

Flaw's second CD is awesome. what are you thinking, compairing them to Disturbed? this website needs to find more inteligent people to write their reviews. harrington, if you're gonna diss a band as bad as you dissed flaw, i'd like to see you do better.
Posted by Iza:
I am a fan of Flaw since the first record. They don't sell the second CD in Canada but I went to Washington and I bought it! I think they are an amazing band and they have all my respect! So people who diss Flaw,...SCREW YOU

They are a band, they are not perfect, but this album would still get a very high score out of 10. 7 being the minimum.

*Disagreed=I meant agreed.
Posted by bleh:
I disagreed with this review. I think Flaw don't really know what kind of music they want to play when they made this album, and the ballads are terrible.
Posted by Mookie:
I'm gonna have to agree with 95% of the other people who posted and say ur a f*cking idiot
Posted by miranda:
wow, that is without a doubt the most stupid thing i have ever read. anyone who doesn't have respect for these guys is an idiot, they are one of the most talented bands i have ever heard and i think Endangered Species is just as incredible as Through the Eyes.
Posted by Mr. Obvious:
I'm not going to get all angry over some idiot's review but I will point out some little things I found humourous about this guy and his review.
Firstly, I'm am going to guess that this guy listens to death metal and his favorite band is probably Dimmu Borgir.. or whatever the "hip, rebel metalhead losers" of today listen to.
I noticed that the only thing this guy "critiqued" for every song were the "song structure", the lyrics, and the tempo of the song, which in itself is moronic but I will go a little deeper;
#1 - SONG STRUCTURE - I couldn't help to bust out laughing at his line "I hear obvious song structure, that I hear too much. You know what I mean: verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus"... lol. Do I really need to explain why that is funny? Oh, wait, I forgot this guy isn't the brightest bulb so.. it's called a SONG. I don't know what kind of music YOU listen to but in the real world of music we tend to frown upon songs that are just one long verse.
- just to point out that this guy has a pea in his skull he says Recognize doesn't have an obvious song structure like the other songs... well, um, verse, chorus, verse, chorus. Did you already forget what the song structures for the other songs were or are you just trying to sound like you know what you are talking about?
#2 - LYRICS - First of all, anyone who rates music based on lyrics needs a brick to the head. 99% of songs lyrics are rather bland and most of the chart toppings in history have elementary lyrics... but this isn't a poetry contest, it's music. On the other hand I must point out that Flaw's lyrics not only have meaning and emotion but are very well written.
That's is about all I can say to that.
#3 - TEMPO - WOW, a band with heavy songs AND slow songs?!? You've got to be f$*@ing kidding me! lol.
So what this guy wants is a band that writes music that is just all one verse and never changes tempo... I bet this guys stays up all night se he can rock out to the TV channel "end of broadcast" beeeeeeep.
Posted by clarkdaddy:
Personally, I have a lot of respect towards flaw, I haven't heard much of their first CD except for My Letter, Great song, the bass part, just amazing, but anyways, Personally, I give these guys a lot of respect for the lyrics, The only people that even think the lyrics are pointless, are brain dead and cant look for the real meaning. I know its hard to put your true feelings in mere words, but they gave hell of an attempt!
Posted by Diogo:
first of all your a faggot. uhh you got the track list wrong, dumass. Lastly, they dont sound like Disturbed, Dave-Chris, tottaly different type of volcals, so stfu
Posted by travis:
this is the worst review i have ever read. curtis, you obviously have little experience with music and i am wondering who chose you for this job. flaw is not my favorite band but this cd is far superior to their previous one. first of all, the layered guitars are the perfect melodic backdrop to the hauntingly pitch perfect vocals. the use of orchestration is a surprise but it adds a definate unique element. the 5 string bass is unmatched by any current players that i know. the drums are heart poundingly erotic. i think its great that one band can pull off such a variety of musical genres so well.

Idiot, yes.

To be honest i actually like this album much better than the first one, but i should mention that i've only heard bits and clips of their first album... i can't relate in any way to the reveiw by that sh*thead, Curtis... i really can't see how he got to be a cd reviewer, when he has no knowlegde about music at all!! i can see why most of you are mad at him, but i don't think that you calling him all sorts of things helps in any way... he might not even have the opertunity to remove his review from the site, but if he has i don't think he wants to after the way you all treated him! yes, he is a dickhead, but even dickheads of his class should have a change to make up for their mistakes at least once... think about that, will ya? and if he doesn't understand the message - I'll just pick him up and take him with me to my good friend down in hell!!
Posted by Jaime:
Ok, Curtis everyone has a title to their own opinion, but you buddy, eh maybe not so much as others~ How the f*ck do you get off on yourself? You are the most pathedic lame a$$ excuse for a human being. I swear to God dude, you really need a hearing aid and an a$$ kicking. You know something must be f*cked up with your so called "critique" bc look at all the frickn hate mail your gettn back, you really messed with the wrong band, bc they have the most loyal fan following ever, so you f*ck with the music you get f*cked! I have never been so pissed off in my whole entire life, i would like to see you write some lyrics, since you claim that Chris's are "lame" you stupid f*ck the only lame writing ic here is yours! and if you even critique this band again you will go down! I don't know who buys your bull sh*t, but i along with how many others sure dont. FLAW has more talent then you will ever have, just remember that. And as for your frickn critisism on their sophmore album, stick it up your a$$ a$$hole!
Posted by Unmended:
id like to say another thing. these lyrics are nothing short of amazing. compared to many many other bands, Flaw's lyrics are exception, make sense and give each song spirit. oh ya, Ace and aaron...go listen to some classical sh^t. since you cant understand lyrics, you wont have to understand anything in classical. go crawl up an elephants @ss! its right where you belong. and take that stick out of your butt curtis, cause we dont give a flying f&ck what you think.
Posted by Strayga:
first off i never know bands had to have a pattern of how there songs songs go. if they like slow songs and fast songs and acoustic song they can damn well do it. I have my first record deal when i was 15 years old... never had to have a pattern. I thought it was about the music you love to play. And thats what flaw did. its there cd who the hell are you trying to tell them or anyone how there f*cking ablum should be. Lets hear you sh*t and will pick it right the f*ck apart. I bet you dont have a single talent so you just put down others. what a talent!

WHAT THE F*CK!!! I've never read anything so f*cked up in my life! F*ck you *sshole!! You little b*itch, I can't believe you call yourself a journalist, or whatever the hell you call yourself. Who do you think you are putting out this sh*tty-*ss review like it's actually supposed to mean something?! I can't even tell you how bad I want to beat the piss out of you! Seriously, if I knew where you lived I would come over to your house with my baseball bat and beat you f*ckin' senseless! I can't believe this sh*t, I can't even come up with the words to describe how retarded your article is! Not only is it retarded, but it's straight up wrong, I mean it's a crime that you're dissing this album like that. Go F*ck yourself you prick! Wait, better yet- go f*ck your dog!! and you're mom! I can't even comprehend your stupidity! This album is the sh*t! I can't believe you can't appreciate the beauty of it. and you too- aaron. WTF! You deserve to be dragged out into the street and beaten by a mob! I think my brain has been permanantly damaged from reading this garbage.
Posted by marcus:
f*ck you b*tch. flaw is the best and so is this album. you can shove that f*cked up review right up your big fat *ss.
Posted by Unmended:
holy balls dude, are you brain dead? you're making it sound like you're a f%cking physcik or something the way you "preditct" how the next song is going to be. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that you listened to ALL the songs before you wrote that sh*tty review. i am in complete agreement with papercut101...seriously, DO you listen to music? do you actually expect every band to have a different "song structure"? and holy crap, this knocked me off my feet: for Wait for me, "this song is more of an acustic ballad".....and? is there something wrong with that??? do rock records have to have all the tracks to be heavy metal head banging songs that pop your ear-drums? i have a good suggestion for you: get a life and: "it almost sounds christian" so are saying that all soft songs should be christian? i swear you make me sick you dipsh@t of a bastard. im sure you think you could do alot better. clearly you are just simply trying to sound like some one who knows alot. but to be honest, you can't think worth jack. you probably think you're a big fan of Flaw, well that's obvously B.S. go suck turkey gullet you retarded prick. a true fan of Flaw would at LEAST respect this album. i give it a 10 out of 10.

recently picked this album up to review for the radio station i work at. being a fan of flaw's first album i had high hopes...but i'm gonna have to agree completely with the above review. the lyrics have ZERO thought and the music is predictable and uninspired. it's a shame cos i wanted to love this.
Posted by papercut101:
Go to hell Curtis Harrington. I don't think I've ever read a more retarded, unintelligent review in my life. I've never had a review piss me off this much before. I'm so sick of dumbf@ck journalists like you trying desperately to say something original in their articles. Example: "I hear obvious song structure, that I hear too much. You know what I mean: verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus."
What in the f%ck is that supposed to mean?! Do you even listen to music? When was the last time you listened to the radio? In case you haven't noticed- that's the song structure for basically ever song out there. Which is what you said, but so what? How is that a bad thing if their song is structured that way? If you're going to rip on them for that you might as well just rip on all rock music period. And what's up with comparing them to Disturbed? Like I said, trying desperately to come up with something original. And just because you're to ignorant to understand or appreciate their lyrics doesn't mean they're 'pathetic'- in your words.
Do you even listen to rock? or music at all? Since when is it bad to have a rock band put out soft songs? Chris Volz has an incredible voice and he is using that to it's fullest, you've just got your head too far up your *ss to appreciate it. Damn, I really want to beat the sh*t out of you. You're such a f$cktard, it's not even funny. Sometimes stupid people like you are amusing, but your arrogance and ignorance combined are beyond unacceptable. Seriously, do the world a favor and go jump off a bridge. And not a bridge that's over a body of water.

Great record.
I liked the first one but this is better.
much more interesting
Posted by Ace:
I liked "Through the Eyes" when I used to like NuMetal. But make no mistake, Flaw sucks now.
Posted by Nicky P:
all right first off, whoever wrote this review is obviously not a fan of flaw. Even though i dont think endangered species is as good as through the eyes i dont think it should be picked apart the way this tool who wrote the review did. I feel that the band still sticks to their true roots and gives a good combo of their unique type of edge they give to rock. The more i listen to endangered species the more i like it. Im a big fan and seen these dudes live a bunch of times they're awesome.
Posted by Tim:
okay in truth be told, its tough for a group any group to top their first CD. and eventhough i will say flaw did not pull off a better CD, still its flaw. you want to love a group for who they are, not for who they can change into. if you are a true flaw fan, you will love this CD like the first one, but unlike the first CD 10 outta 10, this one gets an 8 out 9 out of 10, b/c nothin beats the first one
Posted by Dan:
First cd by Flaw was great and the second one has it's ups and downs. For the most part, the second cd is decent and i would give it a 6 out of 10
Posted by Chase:
Flaw's first CD was awesome and the second one is just as good if you ask me. The only bad song on the second CD is Wait For Me and that song seriously blows. Other than that the CD is the real deal.
Posted by Bill:
You've obviously never really connected with anything truely rock. Shallow moron.
