Five Finger Death Punch is a band that plays easy listening, acoustic, light sounding music. HA! Wouldn't that be funny. FFDP somehow formed in Los Angeles after a scientific experiment went terribly wrong and the five members of the band were gravitated to each other by some force beyond this world. They were also commanded to start busting everyone straight in the chin with their secret powers of heavy metal thrash music that they have been cursed with.In July 2007 they threw their first punch by releasing their debut "The Way of the Fist". 10 tracks of anger ridden extremely powerful tunes with Ivan Moody and his harsh yet sometimes smooth vocals, Zoltan Bathory and Darrell Roberts laying down the footing with their destructive guitar riffs then bassist Matt Snell and drummer Jeremy Spencer bringing the sound to a life of its own. It's FFDPs eloquent interpretation of today's heavy metal thrash music with an actual rhythm or melody infused in the tracks. There's no messing around on this album, no need to analyze the band or the songs. FFDP are what they are and play what they want and if you don't like it, well I wouldn't say anything because they are quite scary looking and sounding. If you were a fan of Motograter or Ghost Machine this music is gonna be right up your alley, straight meat and potatoes thrash metal that you can almost feel more than you can hear. So if you happen to fancy good heavy metal thrash type sounds go pick this disc up. It's not some kind of miraculous new sound but it does deserve a listen. FFDP are currently on the Family Values Tour where they seem to be getting a favorable response to their assault type compositions.
