    Alanis achieves record breaking sales

Alanis Morissette's  new album Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie has broken the SoundScan first week sales record for a female artist by selling 469,000 copies. The record was formally held by Lauryn Hill with 423,000 copies sold.  But sales were not strong enough to be the fastest seller of 1998 that honor belongs to the Beastie Boys who's first week sales were 681,000.

It appears  Morissette's gamble of disappearing from the spot light has paid off.
