Rock News: A New Spin on Axl Rose
Guns N' Roses fans, run, don't walk to your nearest magazine retailer and pick up a copy of the July edition of Spin Magazine.  The cover story deals with none other than the famed recluse Axl Rose. Spin asked the people who know him best to give their account of the Axl Rose story from beginning up to now.  Many rumors were discussed some confirmed and some dismissed. Axl is not walking around L.A. dressed like Michael Jackson. He did however, force his band mates to sign over the Guns n Roses name to him, with a threat that he would not perform.  We could go into more details, but we do not want to spoil the article for you.

The article was very illuminating, it features interview questions from Slash, Lars from Metallica, Steven Adler, (My) Michelle Young, Tracii Guns, Nikki Sixx among others. Together they spin the tale of Axl's adventures. Fans should find the Axl Story more than makes up for the cost of the magazine.  As an added bonus they also feature some exclusive photos. As well as the last known photo of Axl, with short hair, from a 1998 mug shot.

The only disappointment came when searching for the exclusive information on the new album that the magazine's cover promised. We searched cover to cover several times and could find but one little quote saying the music will sound closer to the landmark GNR debut than fans expect.

As for the heavily anticipated new GNR album, there is still no official release date set and very little information is known. It may feature some industrial treatment via sampling, or the recording of Shaquille O'Neal doing a rap over some tracks the new incarnation of Guns n Roses had laid down.

Who is on the new album? Good Question, apparently Axl is the only original member who will appear on the record. Other player may include (don't quote us on this) long time GNR keyboardist Dizzy Reed,  Paul Huge - a childhood friend of Axl's on guitar, Josh Freese of Vandals fame on drums, Tommy Stinson of the Replacements on bass, and Robin Finck on lead guitar.

Rumor has it that fans can expect the new album  this year. As soon as we know anything we will let you know. Until then you can go buy the magazine, and also go over to Spin's web site on June 15th when they publish the transcripts to the interviews which made up the article.
