Rock News: Everclear members charged with assault.
Assault charges were filed against Art Alexakis and backup guitarist Brian Lehfeldt for an alleged incident in Texas. According to reports the singer threw water and a water bottle on a 17 year old female fan after being hit himself with a plastic cup. Brian Lehfeldt was reported to have kicked the girl in the shoulder from the stage.

Both are wanted in Texas on Assault Charges stemming from the incident at a free concert given by Coca Cola in Austin on July 31st. Frontman Art Alexakis has been charged with a Class C misdemeanor while Lehfeldt faces Class A misdemeanor charges.

Alexakis grew upset with the crowd after being hit with a plastic cup. He went on to call the crowd names like redneck motherf***ers and vowed to "beatdown" who ever threw the cup. It was after the outburst from the stage that security guards dragged the 17 year old girl to the stage front, where the assault took place. The girl claims she didn't throw anything, and the Austin Police department believes her.

Alexakis was not required to post bail, while Lehfeldt bond was $6500 because he was charged with the more serious Class A offense. Both band members are to report to court in Texas to face the music at an unspecified date.

Attorneys for the girl assaulted are expected to file a civil case against the band members as well.
