Rock n World completes its first year, and set to launch sister site.
"It seems like it has been a lot longer than a year", quips Rock n World founder Keavin Wiggins.

"The past year has been tremendous, the fans have really come through for the site."  Rock n World has gained a large and loyal audience over the past year with absolutely no advertising. "We had help from UBL, bands and music fans. Most of our traffic comes from word of mouth and fan pages that link to us." Keavin continues, " we set out to create a independent music site. Many fans were sick of the corporate music sites, while many less known artist were ignored by those sites, we put them in the spotlight."

"The idea of letting the fans pick the artist featured on the site sort of evolved, I am not sure when it happened, but in our first couple months on line we were receiving hundreds of suggestions from fans on which bands they wanted featured. It got to the point that all we were working on were those suggestions, our list of bands went out the window."

"We are about 1% done with the site. We have a back log of artist to add, and new areas we are working on. It has been tough because I have had to fund the site with my American Express Card. We make money from those banner ads that you see on the site. Well our ad agency for the past year had only been able to fill part of our inventory, our audience quickly out grew what they were able to come up with as far as ads go. But we just launched a partnership with Bla- Bla.com who sponsored us through the largest ad network in the world, Double Click to fill our unsold ad inventory. Plus we have a new ad agency Transit Gloria Media working on selling ads. Transit Gloria is cool because they only work with music sites, so the ads they line up with be of interest to our audience.  I am in no means in this to get rich, I love music and all I want at the end of the day is to have the resources to promote great bands. Hopefully with these new ad networks in place, we can start hiring new people and concentrate on building more content into the site, instead of worrying about paying the bills. If we break even I will be happy.

"As far as future plans for the site go, we still have hundreds of artist to add, and we are expanding our resource sections with videos, guitar tabs, and MP3's. It is a slow process, because we have to prioritize what we are doing. The thought of asking fans to volunteer to help has been suggested. Maybe we will go that route until we can hire more staff. One thing is for sure, we have only just begun.

"Who knows what the future holds for Rock n World? For now we are very happy with the response the site has received from the public, and equally pleased with promoting some great artist that are all together ignored on other sites. We are also working on a brand new site that will complement Rock n World, I won't let the cat out of the bag just yet, but I will say that the idea for the new site came from feedback from fans.

"I want to thank all of those who made the site possible, from UBL's help, to our staff, and the artist who have allowed us to feature them, also  a big thanks goes out to Debbie Seagle who has contributed some great stuff to the site, but most of all I want to thank  our visitors for making Rock n World a success."
