Rock News: Coverdale is not joining Van Halen
For the past few months there has been wide spread rumors on the net the that one time Whitesnake front man David Coverdale was in talks with Van Halen about joining up. We too got an email that posed as a manuscript for an interview supposedly conducted by a FM radio station in which Coverdale stated he was replacing Gary Cherone as lead vocalist for the legendary rock band.

Turns out it was all a hoax according to MTV news. A David Coverdale's staffer as well as his tour manager told MTV that all the rumors were false, that Coverdale has not been in contact with Van Halen.

As for the interview? Rumors have been flying since last summer that Coverdale had been approached by the Van Halen camp. Then Gary Cherone left Van Halen, and the fake interview surfaced on newsgroups and in email boxes shortly afterwards. Coverdale has reportedly not spoken with the press for the pass year. He was busy putting the final touches on his new solo album.

So Coverdale fans can be happy, his solo album is due out in Europe sometime this year on EMI records. Van Halen fans will have to wait a bit longer to find out who will take the helm of that band. We hear David Lee Roth is available.
