RNW:  One of my favorite songs on the CD is Tear Away.

C.J.: Cool

RNW: That riff stays with you and it’s got really strong lyrics.  How did you guys come up with that one?

C.J.: I was actually working on a program, I had an idea in my head for a program and I was playing that riff over and over again. I think we were taking a break or setting up before we rehearse and um Dave came in and told me to keep playing that riff which was kind of cool since I was playing it anyway making a program out of it. It started coming together, he started singing on it. It was one of those things, I think it came together really quick.

Stevie: Yeah it came together really fast.

C.J.: It was an idea and we ran with it, it was that simple. The point of view of Dave’s lyrics is he claims it’s a very sarcastic statement.

Stevie: I don’t think that’s true, I think that is what he is really saying “I don’t care about anyone but me”.

C.J.: You might really want to ask him about that.

Laughs

C.J.: Sometimes you really have one of those days, your girlfriend breaks up with you, or something happens and you just have that..

Stevie: Me time, me time.  Goddamn I love me, that’s my favorite part of the song, Goddamn I love me.

RNW: What are your favorite tracks on the CD?

Stevie: That’s hard,  let’s see. Sermon is definitely one of my favorites.

C.J.: ok watch we’re gonna go through the whole record.  I’m really really happy with the way it came out. I had an idea, we all had an idea we’ve been together for four years, five years and really perfected it and I think I’m happy with the way things came out, I’m happy with all the songs.

Stevie: If I had to pick one I’d pick sermon

C.J.: Sermon

Stevie: Tear Away, Tear Away

C.J.: Definitely one of my favorites.

Stevie: It’s right up there.

RNW: You guys gonna let us in on what the backwards masking is on that.

Stevie: No we’re not gonna tell you, you are gonna have to play your CD backwards. (laughs)

C.J. That’s right, that’s right!

Stevie: I think the set up next time when you do play it backwards it will actually make sense. I know on this one it still sounds too jumbled to go backwards.

C.J.: No, I know a lot of people who have figured it out. They download it to their computer and play it backwards on there and they say you can hear it plain as day.

Stevie: Unfortunately we didn’t want anyone to know but some kids out there figured it out…. Kill, Kill, Kill

C.J.: Get the gun, get the gun…shoot….shoot oh wait that’s Ozzy.

Stevie: Love one another.

C.J: That’s what it is says, yeah!

Stevie: All is good with Mankind that’s what it says.

(Laughs)

Stevie: Do you know what it says?

RNW: No I don’t.

C.J.: You really wanna know huh?

RNW: Yeah!  Maybe when we are done you can tell me off the record.

Stevie: People are going to figure it out but we want them to work for it.

RNW: It has something to do with the song though, right?

C.J. Yeah. It definitely has something to do with the song.

RNW: What are your favorite songs to play live?

Stevie: Oh wow, Bodies right now.

C.J. Bodies Definitely.

Stevie: Everyone goes fricken nuts man. Reminded is amazing, Sermon is amazing. Oh God the list goes on.  The best one right now is Bodies, everyone knows it. They sing along, Dave doesn’t have to sing most of the time.

C.J. It’s nice when the crowd overpowers you.
