The Stills - Logic Will Break Your Heart
By Linda Spielman

With the resurgence of format friendly pop punk saturating the airwaves of today's radio, it's good to see that some bands are taking a cue from the past and researching the true essence of punk music.

The Stills have the same haunting vocal style of many of the Neo Punk, Alternative icons of years past. A transportation back in time when this genre of music was truly a rebellion as opposed to the "flavor of the week". The importance of popularity via mainstream was as unimportant as the people and values punk rebelled against.

This CD takes the listener back in time to when punk wasn't sugar coated for suburban mall rats. The vocals are shrieking and haunting like that of the Cure.

The sound is raw and hard...the way it's supposed to be. The strongest aspect of the CD is consistency in the guitar playing throughout each track. Although the tracks vary in temp somewhat, the underlying guitar riffs are perpetually driving and powerful.

Despite the a well developed lyrical and musical core, the placement of tracks might have the listener jumping around a lot, as compared to a consistent listen from start to finish.
