Silversun Pickups - Carnavas Review

by Eric Bodrero

.
The Silversun Pickups had something real special with their debut EP Pikul, and they keep it coming with their full length Carnavas, a cut and dry, straight-up indie rock n' roll record that combines the best of white noise layered in-between "scream until it hurts" boy-ish vocals and right-in-step percussion to make one hell of a debut full length.

Melodic heart-string tuggers (well, as tuggish as garage-like rock gets anyway) like "Well Thought Out Twinkles" and "Checkered Floors" keep the mix interesting, while melancholic gems like "Little Lover's So Polite" and "Rusted Wheel" sink into your skin like a hot knife and leave their well-crafted melodies running through your bloodstream forever. I highly recommend picking this up, especially if you enjoyed the EP.
