Scars of Tomorrow - The Beginning Of Review

.
Literally on the heels of their 2005 Victory Records release, The Horror of Realization, California hardcore band Scars of Tomorrow have released an entire CD of, naturally, their not so distant roots & humble beginnings. Available on here are some songs that are no longer in CD circulation, making this a must have for new SoT converts. This is an outstanding CD that fails to disappoint on any level. Every song on here is a testament to the talent of this young band & their determination to maintain their musical manifesto, though such a task may never be as commercially successful as writing pop ditties for American Idol might be. Such raw talent & dogged determination to stay the course in the hands of such a fledgling band is intimidating.

The songs on here are varied, much more complex than even the best the metal core universe has to offer. I gave 'em 5 stars before for this fact, as well as for their high quality, their complete originality, their varied depth & excellence & that's what they get again. I reckon I could have just recycled my review of The Horror of Realization, because it all still applies to this; even more so. This is not a band that sold out once they got signed, listen to this CD & you'll see what I'm talking about.

Even if you view 'greatest hits' type releases with suspicion, the fact that these guys are not even remotely interested in selling out makes this CD one above scrutiny. This is no mere attempt to slap something together quick as a lazy shortcut to making a few bucks without much effort; it really is a valuable entry onto their growing release list & an important & most excellent part of their history.

I hope SoT continues this fine tradition of releasing a CD every 6 months, life will be good indeed.
