Coachella - The Film Review

by Morley Seaver

The great thing about this DVD is that there are many excellent performances. The bad thing about this DVD is that the one song from each act leaves you wanting more. Spirited musical delivery abounds as one can expect from the lineup of bands on this movie. And at just shy of two hours, you feel a little silly complaining but c'mon…one song by Iggy & the Stooges?

Coachella, of course, is the festival from California that has been going on for seven years now. The first six years are represented with a good cross section of acts. Some of the names that are on here are The Arcade Fire, Bjork, Bright Eyes, The Flaming Lips, The Mars Volta, Oasis, The Pixies, Radiohead, The White Stripes and Morrissey.

There are interviews with the likes of Josh Homme, Mos Def, Perry Farrell and Tenacious D. Also included are little snippets about some of the special exhibits at the festival. For instance, one selection shows a host of mechanical concoctions that amuse and amaze. The rave tent is also given the once over as well as a bike exhibit.

If you like a variety of music, this is for you.
