Cold - A Different Kind of Pain Review
by Dan Cappello

.
Cold broke out into the main stream with their 2003 album Year of The Spider. Songs like "Suffocate" and "Stupid Girl" really attracted me to the band. I am a real big fan of their 2003 album as well as their 2000 album 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage. However, I am extremely disappointed with the bands new album A Different Kind of Pain.

I can't believe how soft this band become. I mean I am all for bands taking their emotions and putting it into music no matter if its about women, drugs, or depression. I believe the greatest artists are the ones who take the deepest darkest emotions and put them into music. However I draw the line when an entire album is written like this.

Now the songs "Feel It in Your Heart" and "A Different Kind of Pain" are two amazingly written songs. They really touch the heart emotionally and you can really picture exactly what the situation he is singing about is like. Now these are two amazing songs which really touch the listener, but the band tries to make every song on the album like these two.

It's really depressing to listen to really. The album is so soft and depressing and the worst part is most songs seem to be about love. Come on Cold you guys weren't always like this. The album is depressing to listen to not because of the lyrics but because it's so boring. There is not a single song on their album that pumps you up or gets you excited.

I am going to be honest and say that if you're not into sitting around crying and thinking about love and how it sucks then don't waste your money. I really am disappointed with this album and hope that Cold gets all these depressing emotions out of their system and start rocking again.
