Balzac - Out of the Grave and Into the Dark Review
by Morley Seaver

.
Balzac is a Japanese band that began in 1992. They had a horror-rock schtick that was similar to the Misfits, although they were not a tribute band. Their first record was distributed in 1995 and they quickly gained favor at home. They opened for The Misfits twice in Japan and finally in the U.S. where they won over hundreds of fans.Out of the Grave and Into the Dark is a CD/DVD pack overflowing with goodies. First off, it's a combo record of two new sets. There are bonus tracks, three music videos, five live music videos, and a short horror film by the band. There is also a booklet with many photos.
With regards to the music, there are 22 cuts on the audio side and it all kind of blends into one extended cut. The guitar is nice and sharp and the vocals are commanding
unfortunately I can't tell if they're singing in Japanese or English. The set has been given a blessing by Jerry Only who is Co-Executive Producer so that definitely says something. If you're a fan of this kind of stuff, you probably have this already. If you're on the fence
the package is excellent. A lot of work went into it. I think, however, it's a case of too much sizzle
too little steak.
