| SUPERNOVICE is a well-established, yet obscure
alternative rock band based out of Orange County,
CA. The band originally formed in 1992, and they've
toured the Southwest, the West Coast, and the
Pacific Northwest since then. What started out as a
pop/punk amidst the hordes of bands in the Orange
County scene, later blossomed into a surf-folk band
with grunge influence, then gravitated towards more
of a true "indie" sound. Within three months of its
inception, the band signed on with Long Beach
based Meridian Records for the release of its first
EP, "Suspended in Bliss" (1993). Sole remaining
original band member, David Turbow, decided to
found his own record label, ONSET RECORDS, in
1994. The band released the critically acclaimed,
"Well-Fed" in 1994 on ONSET RECORDS. In 1996,
Supernovice enlisted the help of Bad Religion
guitarist Greg Hetson and engineer Geoff Harrington
(Filmstar) to produce their riff-heavy second
full-length album, "Inescapable". The addition of
classically trained vocalist, Johnna Corbett , to share
vocal duties in 1997 carried the band to new heights,
particularly with the release of their third full-length
effort, "Timely". Throughout all of the changes in
modern rock, Supernovice's accessible music has
maintained the ability to click with college radio music
directors and all-ages concert crowds alike without
sacrificing honesty or sincerity. They've remained a
well-kept secret behind the "Orange Curtain" for
almost seven years now! In July of 1999, the band
recorded two brand new songs, "If I Tried" and "Is
That So Wrong?", at A-Room Studios in Anaheim,
California for the new compilation, called the "The
Buddy List", on Fast Sofa music. Their brand new,
3-song CD single, is now out! Please request it on
your college radio station in now. |
