The band RadioCraft was originally founded when
guitarist (then bassist) Kevin Breslin saw a friends
sister (Suzie) singing in a duet at a local pub. The
music they were doing was in the same vein of music
Kevin had been writing. At the time, Kevin was
playing in a Detroit area band called "Paradox".
Changes were in motion in that band, but
unfortunately not the same direction that Kevin's
writing was heading. Just as Kevin's musical
aspirations were changing the guitarist that Suzie
was working with was beginning to lose his
motivation. Kevin and Suzie began writing songs
together almost immediately and soon began to
expand their sound by adding two guitarists, a pianist
and a drummer. The band was called 300 cubits and
ironically, the band lasted about 300 days before
dissimilar interests and personalities pulled things
apart.
So after working together for over a year, Kevin and
Suzie had found themselves back to square one and
in need of new band members. David Press, an old
friend of Kevin's, heard that Kevin was switching to
guitar full time and that he and Suzie needed a
bassist and drummer. David recommended that Kevin
and Suzie talk to a bassist friend Ken Williams. From
bands like "Sheer Heart" (which had a pretty good
run of it's own in Detroit area clubs), Ken came into
the band with a wealth of experience at holding down
the bottom, fresh ideas and anew solid foundation for
the band.
The last step was to find the right drummer, which
had proved harder than expected. Again as luck
would have it, Dave was just about done working
with another local Detroit area band and was very
much interested with his friends Ken and Kevin.
David Press, like his now bandmate Ken, had also
had a good deal of success with one of his previous
bands "Sweet Teaze", who had released their own
CD and done a lot of touring in US.
The band rehearsed for several months before
recording their first demo CD called "A Good Demo"
and playing clubs in the Detroit area. When asked,
people say the band sounds like: "Toad the Wet
Sprocket", "Sarah McLachlan", "Paula Cole", "The
Odds".
