I
always knew there was a chance we’d get back together, but it was a matter
of timing. I think that the big spark to it happening was when {Porno}
played Roseland in New York and Dave and Flea came out and played “Hard
Charger.” Then, Dave and Flea recorded the song “Freeway” for Porno’s Good
God’s Urge, and that was like a reminder of what could be. The idea was
always brewing. We had asked Eric and we wanted him to play, and it was
a strange twist that he didn’t want to do it; but with Flea, I feel blessed.

We’re
going to maximize all the talented friends we’ve got, and put a live show
together that will be theatrical, festivous, carnivale, dancey, racey, ravey.
- Perry
At
no point was I aware of anyone saying, “hey let’s do a Jane’s Addiction
thing, let’s call evrybody up and see what they’re up to.
We
just kind of reconnected after not having been connected over the years.
It just kind of evolved from the times we played together in the last year
or so. - Dave
My
playing with Jane’s Addiction works really well because they’re not just
some new guy to fill in. We have a history and a brotherhood musically.
It’s sort of like a fruit that has finally ripened and has been plucked
off a tree. That’s how I see our union. - Flea
With
Flea, musically, it’s a whole other angle. He’s and interpreterin a very
spiritual, very aware way of what happened with Jane’s then, and what’s
happening now, and I think he’ll put that together and come up with something
that will fit exactly what the tour and the music is about. I think he’ll
add a great attitude - he’s like a B-12 shot - you can’t go wrong with
that. - Stephen
For
me, playing with Jane’s is just a beautiful opportunity, and it’s really
healthy for me. On a purely physical level, I can relate to {Jane’s} so
much. My body and my soul moves in the way that their music moves, and
that’s why I can relate to it. I just love those guys, I love them and
I love their music and I know that I feel it, truly and sincerely. There’s
no part of me that has to work at being something that I’m not in order
to do it. I can do it and be completely natural and just love it with my
heart and it’s just so much fun - it just feels so good. And, playing their
type of music helps me to express parts of myself that I have not been
able to express with my own band. - Flea
This
is a special situation, with Flea coming in. I have such excitement in
my heart to hear how he sounds with us, not in just reproducing the past,
but I would love to hear how he will come up with songs that have yet to
be sung. Sonically we’ll be different because Flea opens up a whole new
world. He’s got power and finesse, so there’s really no limit to where
you can go with this fellow. - Perry
